Youth Conservation Corps Watershed Academy provides watershed job pathways for northern New Mexico communities. In 2024, the program employed 35 positions, including four full-time, and 31 season youth.

Higher Education Degree Programs include:

  • Pueblo Community College’s Forestry, Wildfire Mitigation, and Natural Resources. This offers a basic wildland fire certificate, a two-semester Forestry and Wildfire certificate, and is creating a two-year program.
  • New Mexico Highlands University’s B.S. Forestry, B.S. Conservation Management, and minors in Wildland Fire and Wildlife Management. The program is accredited by the Society of American Foresters and is the only accredited program in New Mexico.

Vocational Training includes:

  • Northern New Mexico Community College’s Commercial Driver’s License Program. Created in 2023, this supports hauling capacity for wood processing.
  • Northern New Mexico Community College’s Northern Stewards Program. Participating students receive GIS and other training for natural resource planning, monitoring, and storytelling.
